Letter: Republicans struggle to refute Trump criticism
I would like to respond to a few things Ms. Wilder said in her recent opinion letter. First of all, Ms. Wilder, like many radical Republicans doesn't seem to understand the definition of socialism. In a socialist society, all assets are jointly owned and controlled by the workers. While the left favors far too many government handouts, they are a far cry from socialists. Second, Ms. Wilder writes about this mysterious "weaponized and two-tiered justice system."
If that is a real thing, how did Hunter Biden get convicted? Why didn't this corrupt judicial system save him? Third, there are several instances in her letter where she responds to criticisms I made of former President Donald Trump in a recent letter. She never actually refutes any of my points. Instead, like many other Republicans, she resorts to the old "but Biden did this and that, and blah, blah blah," because as much as they want to, they can't change reality.
Finally, Ms. Wilder takes issue with my characterization of MAGA as a cult. The definition of a cult is "a misplaced or excessive admiration for a person." I can't think of a better description of an Ever Trumper. In a letter she wrote a few months ago, Ms. Wilder stated she was not an Ever Trumper, I had to chuckle at that comment. I think her recent letter proves otherwise. I am proud to be a Never Trumper and she should likewise embrace her status as an Ever Trumper.
