Toronto hosting week long Indigenous Music Summit
The International Indigenous Music Summit is the largest international event dedicated to celebrating and building opportunities for the Indigenous music community. You know, there's so much creativity and there are so many incredible things happening, and so we're all here to share in that and celebrate it together. Taking place over five days, the event features keynote speakers, performances, resource sharing, and an opportunity to forge community connections and bring the brilliance that exists in our community together to. Inspire each other and support each other and, you know, foster all of that great music that's coming up next, all while sharing the proud voice and stories of the Indigenous community through the power of music, the root of a lot of what we have come to know. As popular music, you know, there are things that aren't identified, you know, people. We're not telling those stories about how much Indigenous music have influenced and inspired, so we're here to talk about those stories. This is a community that has been silenced systemically, and I don't mean symbolically, like actually our songs and our stories have been outlawed. And so for us to be coming together and lifting them up and just amplifying them in all of these ways, this is important and it's powerful and it's healing for us. Performances can be seen online by following Indigenous Music Summit in Toronto, Audra Brown City News.
