Should Warriors Let Chris Paul Go?
The Golden State Warriors made a big splash last offseason when they added Chris Paul in a trade with the Washington Wizards. However, it did not work out as well as they would have hoped.
In a recent article by Bleacher Report's Grant Hughes, he outlines the best and worst landing spots for some of the top free agents. And for Paul, he thinks that re-signing with the Warriors is not a good option.

"Chris Paul may not hit free agency at all if the Golden State Warriors guarantee his salary and either keep or trade him. But if the Dubs cut him loose to save money, Paul could be a sought-after commodity in a weak point guard market," Hughes writes. "If he's willing to play a backup role like he did last season, there might be 20 teams that'd happily take him aboard and benefit from his presence in the rotation."
Paul averaged career-lows in almost every statistical category, but it could have been because he only started in 18 games this season. If he feels he deserves to start, the Warriors are not the team he needs to be with.
But if Paul were to want to stay and accept his bench role, the team might want to consider re-working his contract. Most believe that he does not deserve to be paid as much as he was a couple of seasons ago, and the Warriors could use that extra money to go and sign other players in free agency.
Paul is one of the best point guards in the history of the NBA, but it could be time to accept that the Warriors were just not the right fit for him.
