Kandi Burruss, 48, was 'depressed' when she didn't lose ANY weight on Ozempic: 'It didn't curb my appetite'

Kandi Burruss confessed she hopped on the trendy Ozempic train last year after seeing 'so many people who were trying it and losing weight' including her former Real Housewives of Atlanta castmate Marlo Hampton.

'I didn't lose any weight!' the 48-year-old mother-of-three lamented to Page Six's Virtual Reali-Tea podcast on Tuesday.

'When you see it worked for other people and it doesn't work for you, it makes you depressed. Realistically, it makes you feel like, "What is wrong? Why is it not working for me?"'

Kandi continued: 'My doctor was like, "I don't know what the problem is, I'm not seeing this in other people." It didn't curb my appetite. I know some people are like, "Oh, I can't eat." Not me! I was eating appetizers, a regular meal, and dessert, okay? It didn't stop anything for me.'

The 48-year-old mother-of-three lamented to Page Six's Virtual Reali-Tea podcast on Tuesday: 'I didn't lose any weight! When you see it worked for other people and it doesn't work for you, it makes you depressed. Realistically, it makes you feel like, "What is wrong? Why is it not working for me?"'

But for every person who admits to Ozempic, there's many more who've remained suspiciously silent while suddenly slimming including Lizzo, Mindy Kaling, Melissa McCarthy, Khloé Kardashian, Lana Del Rey, Christina Aguilera, and Patricia Arquette.

The semaglutide injectables - which could cause yet-to-be-known long-term effects such as pancreatitis - can cost $25/month for qualified patients under insurance, but it costs anywhere between $600 and $1,300 for a month supply of four weekly pens out-of-pocket.

Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus, Mounjaro, and Victoza should only be prescribed to severely overweight patients suffering from type 2 diabetes - and only one of them (Wegovy) has been approved for weight loss by the FDA in 2021.

Obesity expert Dr. Andrew Kraftson said most people taking these medications will hit a plateau around the 18-month mark after starting treatment.

'You could tell someone that they're going to lose 15 percent of their weight, potentially, on Ozempic or Wegovy. But once they get to 15 percent, it is not like they're like, "Oh, now I'm satisfied, great,"' Kraftson told the New York Times last September.

'I don't try to come across as the dream killer, but sometimes you really wonder, what is the hole we're trying to fill? And will additional weight loss really fill it?'

Burruss decided to get serious about whittling away at her curvaceous 5ft3in figure after topping the scales at '170-something pounds' following an indulgent vacation to the Caribbean last month.

'When I announced that I was not going to do Housewives anymore [on February 4], I was eating dessert every day, taking trips, just living it up,' the Georgia native explained.

Burruss vowed: 'While I'm on tour, I'm going to make the most of the gyms at the hotels and I'm going to work out so many days a week, stick to the eating correctly and [do] Hydroxycut and see how it goes. So I'm excited. Pray for that I can stick to it!'
