Trump Criticizes U.S. Aid to Ukraine at Detroit Rally

Former President Donald Trump, who is running again for the White House, voiced strong criticism of U.S. aid to Ukraine during a campaign rally in Detroit on June 15.

According to digi24 he was speaking at the Turning Point USA event, Trump labeled Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as "the best salesperson" and pledged to address the issue of U.S. aid to Ukraine if re-elected.

According to The Kyiv Independent, Trump asserted that he would resolve the aid situation even before assuming office.

Trump's View on Zelensky and U.S. Aid

At the rally, Trump described President Volodymyr Zelensky as "perhaps the greatest salesperson among any politician who ever lived."

He claimed, "Every time he comes to our country, he leaves with $60 billion. Just four days ago, he left with $60 billion and announces at home that he needs another $60 billion. It never ends," Trump remarked.

He promised, "I will settle this before I get to the White House as President-elect."

Inaccuracies in Trump's Statements

Trump's statements about U.S. aid to Ukraine were not entirely accurate.

A foreign aid bill containing nearly $61 billion for Ukraine was signed by President Joe Biden at the end of April.

Trump has previously declared that he would stop aid to Ukraine if he won the 2024 presidential election. Additionally, Trump argued that Russia would not have launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 if he had secured a second term in office.
