Bollywood superstars Anil Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan have crossed paths in casting decisions on more occasions than one. SRK was supposed to play Kapoor's role in the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire while his iconic film Baazigar was initially offered to the Mr India star. But did you know? THIS much-loved movie was also supposed to star King Khan, not Anil Kapoor.

When SRK signed Nayak for Re 1 before Anil Kapoor

In an interview with Rediff, King Khan once disclosed that he was the first choice for Shankar's Nayak, which was a remake of the filmmaker's 1999 Tamil film Mudhalvan. SRK had accepted the offer with a signing fee of one rupee.

He recalled, "Did he (Shankar) also tell you that I signed for him and took a signing amount? You know how much? One rupee. I took one rupee from him. And told him I would give him dates in bulk whenever he wanted them."

Why did SRK reject Anil Kapoor's cult classic?

The Jawan star was apparently hesitant about the Hindi adaption. "But I was not comfortable about doing the Hindi version. I told Shankar that in Tamil, that whole chief minister for a day thing worked brilliantly, but I did not think it was such a big issue in North India. I didn’t think the concept would work as it is. So, on that project we had some issues — nothing major, just that we didn’t think alike on a few things, so it did not make sense to do it." he had revealed.

SRK had added that he still has the signing amount and would jump at an opportunity to work with Shankar as and when it arrives. "For me, he is like James Cameron — you know, he makes out-and-out entertainers on a gigantic scale, and that kind of thing can be a huge high," he had said.

The duo is yet to collaborate on a project.
