From Corporate Trainer to EntrepreneurGhazal Alagh's professional journey began in a vastly different arena. Unlike the many engineers populating the Indian startup ecosystem, Alagh started her career as a corporate trainer. From 2008 to 2010, she worked at NIIT Limited, training IT professionals in coding languages and software.

Modest BeginningsDespite now owning a unicorn startup valued at over Rs 9,500 crore, Alagh’s initial earnings were modest. In a post on X, Alagh recalled her early days, noting her first income as a corporate trainer was Rs 1,200 per day. "My first income was modest, earning Rs 1,200/day as a weekend corporate trainer. I recall the joy of taking my mom shopping and sharing a memorable dinner," she wrote.
Defying Conventional NormsIn the startup world, having a degree from premier institutions like IIT or IIM is often seen as a stepping stone to entrepreneurial success. However, Alagh charted a different path. She graduated from Panjab University with a degree in Information Technology before completing a summer course in art and design from the New York Academy of Art.
Alagh’s journey with Mamaearth began with a personal quest for safe, eco-friendly products for her child. This mission resonated with many, propelling Mamaearth to its current status as a leading wellness brand. Under her leadership, the company has expanded its portfolio, continuously innovating and staying true to its commitment to sustainability.
