Charley Hull: What's In The Bag | Golf Monthly
OK, so Charlie, we got your full bag of clubs here. We're going to take everyone at home through what's in your bag and why. So let's start with the wedges. So you've got a sixty degree 5450°. Is that the same setup you've had for a long time? Yeah, pretty much. It's just enough gaps in all the different, you know, the wedges to play different shots within my shot game. You've obviously got the new MG4 there. Yeah, in the 60. How are you finding that one? I really like it. I put it in the bag at U.S. Open and it really helped to look around the greens. So it was in straight away. It's good signs. Yeah. And yeah, I mean, obviously I've worked with you a little bit now and obviously, you know, be a common theme through the bag is that you haven't really changed too much. You like what you like and and and we keep things fairly kind of simple and and year on year moving on into the irons. So something that's quite unusual, I would say for an LPGA player as you're playing blades. So we've got the the 50° straight into pitch and wedge P7 MB right through to the fore right there. So like I say, that's quite unusual, I'd say for an LPGA player, not anymore that I know that Play a set of Blades through the bag and obviously into the shafts. Again, 125 grams is pretty heavy, but something that you got used to and you like. I've always played Blades since I was a kid. Like my first set of clubs was Blades and I've always never, ever not played anything other than them. Actually played Taylor made clubs with the Blades back 1015 years ago when I was 9-10 years old. For everyone at home. Like how far would you say you hit the 419190 and then you're moving up into a hybrid carry that 208208. So you've got an 18 yard gap there. Pretty, pretty standard once you get up this end of the bag. And then my three was my 2:30 to 2:35. OK, good. And then do you know how far what's it would be an average carry? I know it depends on 255, two, 5255. So you've got a pretty good spread there. And are you good at like say manipulating the yardages? So you've got an in between and you've got a 220. Would you be hitting a hard hybrid or a soft? Depends on kind of what's around the green. But sometimes I hit like a firm drawery rescue or I'll just hit like a nice little February fadey free with him. Yeah, let's go up to the driver. So stealth 2, driver 8° again, very unusual for an LPGA player to play quite a low lofty driver like that. Talk us through the driver and and why I don't really like it. Too spinny. And anything more loft, it was getting a bit spinny. So that was better for me. And I've always had this shaft probably for like 10 years now and I don't make it no more. So I've got to be careful. I don't snap any clubs. Everything here to me looks like it's geared towards low spin. And then you're moving on from that. You're in the TP5X, right, which is the low spin golf ball. So everything seems to me about keeping the ball flight down 500%. Yeah. So yeah, that's the golf ball. And then butter TP Soto Potter. I like a traditional. Yeah, I like a traditional putter. Obviously I was bought a playing Scotty Cameron putter, but then you guys come with me this and I really, really liked it and I like playing with it. And again, this is what in about two and a half, three years with this one now 2 1/2 years. Yeah. So the common theme here is really not much changes. You try change as little as possible because you like what you like. And you know what, you know, I'm quite a traditional player. I think that's we've basically gone through your bag there TP5X golf ball, Soto putter, MG4 and MG3 wedges there P7MB irons and then a little bit of a mix up in the woods. Stealth 2 Driver 8°.
