Life Is Strange: Double Exposure 'respects' both endings of the original game

Developer Deck Nine has released an extended look at Life Is Strange: Double Exposure, which features the return of original protagonist Max Caulfield.
After being revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase, developer Deck Nine has given a deep dive on the next Life Is Strange game.
Life Is Strange: Double Exposure sees the return of Max Caulfield, who was the teenage protagonist in the original Life Is Strange from 2015. The character is now an adult in this sequel, with original voice actor Hannah Telle reprising the role.
The original game concluded on a pivotal decision which decided the ending you’d have to the story, and now Deck Nine has detailed how this narrative choice, and others you made along the way, will impact the sequel.
As detailed in a reveal livestream, Life Is Strange: Double Exposure will ‘respect’ both endings, with the developers confirming neither outcome is the definitive ‘canon’ conclusion.
‘It was really important at Deck Nine that if we were going to make another Max adventure that the game would have to respect both those endings,’ game director Jonathan Stauder said. ‘Life is Strange: Double Exposure does that very thing.
‘There’s no canon ending in our book to the first game. Double Exposure will respect both endings in Max’s thoughts, her journal, her SMS, her interactions with other characters, what she opts to reveal about her past to her new friends, it’s all reflective of that final choice.’
