Erling Haaland responds to Man City contract reports amid '£175m release clause'
Erling Haaland refused to comment on reports Manchester City are looking to extend his contract.
Haaland has proven a revelation since joining the Premier League champions from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, winning two titles, the FA Cup and the Champions League.
The Norway international has broken all manner of records in English football too, including registering the most prolific-ever haul in a Premier League season.
City stormed to a treble during the 2022-23 campaign, thanks in so small part to Haaland’s record-breaking 36 League goals.
While injuries limited the 23-year-old to 29 League starts this time around, Haaland won his second consecutive Golden Boot by bagging 27 goals.
Despite his stunning form since making the move into English football, Haaland has not been without criticism.
Sky Sports pundit and former Manchester United captain Roy Keane labelled his performance against Arsenal in March as that of a “League Two player”.
There have also been reports suggesting City are looking to extend his contract amid claims Haaland has a release clause worth around £175m in his current deal, which expires in 2027.

Real Madrid have long been credited with an interest in the former Dortmund forward, though they have recently added Kylian Mbappe and Endrick to a frontline already including Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr.
Speaking to TV2, Haaland said about of his future: “I've had two fantastic years, and have three years left.
“That's really all I can say.”
Pressed on whether there were talks ongoing about a new deal, Haaland added: “That's all I can say, what I just said.”
City teammate Kevin De Bruyne recently hinted at a potential end to his trophy-laden spell at the Etihad Stadium and suggested he would be open to a move to Saudi Arabia.
"My eldest is now eight years old and knows nothing but England. He also asks how long I will play for City. Once the moment comes, we will have to deal with it in a certain way.
"At my age you have to be open to everything. You’re talking about incredible amounts of money in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about that."
Standard Sport understands clubs in the centrally-run Saudi Pro League are keen on the Belgian, who will be out of contract next summer.
