Cowboys Rookie Cooper Beebe Scouting Report from Minicamp
The Dallas Cowboys offensive line was ravaged in free agency as Tyron Smith (Jets) and Tyler Biadasz (Commanders) left, leaving holes in Dak Prescott's protection.
But the Cowboys believe they've plugged those in the draft with Oklahoma right tackle Tyler Guyton and Kansas State stud Cooper Beebe.
Said coach Mike McCarthy during this week's minicamp inside The Star: Guyton and Cooper Beebe are "totally on point" as they push for starting jobs.
Cowboys Rookie Cooper Beebe Scouting Report from Minicamp
While Guyton is slated to be the surefire starter at left tackle, Beebe is in competition with Brock Hoffman for the center role. Having been a star at Kansas State, Beebe will look to bring his nasty edge to a Dallas offensive line that desperately needs it.
He might not get the fanfare of Guyton, who was a first-round pick, but make no mistake: Beebe has more than enough talent to make waves early in his career. As such, CBS Sports has named Beebe a rookie sleeper who could thrive in Year 1.
CBS Sports writes, "While Beebe was a right tackle and left guard during an illustrious career at Kansas State, his move closer to the ball is continuing in the pros, as he'll now snap the ball to Dak Prescott. He'll be one of the bigger, more powerful pivots in the game as he earns his stripes inside, and center is probably the ideal spot for him in the NFL because Beebe isn't a dancing bear athletically. The angles and leverage games? That's where he thrives."
As a third-round selection, while Beebe is competing with Hoffman, the expectation will be that Cooper wins the role in training camp. Bringing a physical, nasty approach to offensive line play, Beebe loves putting defenders on the ground and has fun doing it.
Another strength is his versatility, as he has played all five line positions at various stages of his career.
But perhaps Beebe's true value is in the run game, where he explodes off the line like a freight train and opens up running lanes for fun. For a Cowboys offense that was missing a consistent run game that season, Beebe looms as a key cog in re-establishing it.
Armed with all the tools to succeed in the league, Beebe could be seen as a "sleeper" outside of the building, but inside The Star, they know they have a serious good center capable of playing to a high level from Day 1.
