Nine Australians injured from passenger jet turbulence appeal for medevac flights home
Developments in that Singapore Airlines flight and it's terrifying plunge this morning. The 9 Australians still in Bangkok Hospital are pleading to be brought home on a medevac flight, some of them severely injured, needing spinal surgery. If your question is permanently. I can say that it's too too early to say that it's permanent or not. Today's Sarah Stewart has more for us now. Sarah, good morning. 3 Australians are in ICU. Yeah, that's right, Sarah. There are now calls to get all of the Australians that have been injured home to Australia. We know that at least nine Australians remain in hospital. Three of those are in intensive care and leading this call is a husband and wife who are both injured on this flight. We know that the wife remains in intensive care this morning. They say while they've been receiving good care in the hospital in Bangkok, their preference is to come home to Australia and continue their treatment because we know that some of these Australians will require some surgery, whether that happens overseas or here in Australia. This comes as other people have begun leaving hospital and sharing their. Stories of their ordeal. A lot of people have got some spinal issues from, you know, hitting their heads and then kind of connecting back down. So they've had quite a few scans. A lot of people can barely move their back. And we're getting a clearer picture this morning about just how many people were injured in this. We know that 55 people remain in hospital this morning. Twenty of those are in intensive care. Three of those twenty are Australian. We're told that 22 people have spinal or spinal cord injuries. Six people have brain or skull injuries. So some really serious injuries and a bunch of Australians who simply want to get home. Sarah absolutely says thank you.
