Renée Zellweger is having a blast returning to one of her iconic characters.

The actress, 55, was spotted filming scenes for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy in London's Camden neighborhood on Friday, May 17.

Two-time Oscar-winner Zellweger smiled wearing a beige jacket over a navy blue and cardigan on set for the fourth installment in the Bridget Jones series, which will mark its first entry since 2016's Bridget Jones's Baby.

Zellweger and The White Lotus star Leo Woodall were seen filming in Hampstead Heath in North London last week. Woodall, 27, is joining the cast, which will also see Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson reprise their roles from past movies. Isla Fisher, who also has a role in the new movie, was seen filming scenes in London on May 22.

As Universal Pictures announced in April, the new Bridget Jones film is set to release in theaters and on Peacock Feb. 14, 2025, and is adapted from author Helen Fielding's novel of the same name.

Mad About the Boy, directed by Michael Morris, will also feature another new cast member in Chiwetel Ejiofor. The film will make for Grant's third appearance in the series as Daniel Cleaver, as well as Thompson's second; Thompson, 65, also co-wrote the third film.

The film will follow 2001's Bridget Jones's Diary, 2004's sequel Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and 2016's Bridget Jones's Baby, which also starred Patrick Dempsey.

Fielding revealed to the Radio Times in 2022 that she was adapting her 2014 novel Mad About the Boy to film. "I’m working on it and I really hope it will happen," she said at the time.

"Every film that gets made is a miracle — it’s really difficult to make films happen and to make them good," she said. "But I’d love to see it on the screen."

Speaking with PEOPLE in April, Grant, 63, also explained that the new installment would be "very moving as well as funny."

"It's partly based on Helen Fielding's experiences of bringing up two children by herself after her husband died. And so Bridget is bringing up two kids and wondering whether she should ever go back to dating," said Grant. "It's a very good script."

Grant, who plays Zellweger's on-again, off-again love interest, added that he's continued to stay in touch with the movie's star. "I've been running into Renée off and on for the last 10 years," he said. "We always seem to click."
