MLB strikeout props for Tue. 6/25: Fade Adam this eve
Will Padres pitcher Adam Mazur be celebrating tonight?
That's how you kick off a week, baby! We swept the board with a 3-0 mark in strikeout props on Monday, and we're looking to do the same with another three-pack of K props for Tuesday's MLB slate.
Gerrit Cole under 5.5 Ks (+100 DraftKings)
Yankees at Mets, 7:10 p.m. ET
Cole is still one of the best strikeout artists in baseball, but he's not yet ready for a full workload. The New York Yankees right-hander threw only 62 pitches in his season debut against the Baltimore Orioles last week, so he likely won't surpass 75-80 on Tuesday as he continues to work back from his right elbow injury. Cole managed just a 22.2 percent whiff rate and a 23.3 percent chase rate against Baltimore. He'll need to be exceptional to clear this number against a streaking New York Mets lineup in limited action.
David Peterson under 4.5 Ks (+115 DK)
Yankees at Mets, 7:10 p.m. ET
We're sticking with the Battle of New York for our second selection, and it's another under. Peterson has gone under this line in three of his four starts this season. The left-hander ranks in the third percentile in strikeout rate (12.2 percent) and the fifth percentile in whiff rate (17.4 percent). His only avenue to strikeouts is his 31.8 percent chase rate, but the Yankees have the lowest chase rate and the seventh-highest chase contact rate in MLB. The Yankees are also striking out only 18.4 percent of the time against lefties this month.
Adam Mazur under 3.5 Ks (-108 FanDuel)
Nationals at Padres, 9:40 p.m. ET
It's been a rough start to the season for Mazur. The rookie right-hander has given up 14 earned runs and managed only 11 strikeouts through four starts. He's also struggling with his control and hasn't recorded more than 14 outs in three straight appearances. This is a brutal matchup, too, as the Washington Nationals have the lowest strikeout rate against righties over the last two weeks (15.8 percent).
