Princess Anne stepped in for her brother today as she met with guests during an appearance at a Buckingham Palace Garden Party.

The Princess Royal, 73, beamed as she met and chatted to members of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Anne looked every inch a royal in a grey- blue ensemble, including a long floral embroidered floral blazer jacket, which she wore buttoned up.

She colour-coordinated her jacket with a wide-brimmed in a light blue shade and donned sapphire coloured gloves with a matching shoulder bag and a pair of practical heels.

The daughter of the late Queen paired her chic outfit with a stacked pearl necklace and matching drop earrings. She also fastened a glitzy golden brooch of a seahorse to her chest.

Anne was joined at the event by her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, who donned a smart navy suit, a crisp white shirt, a patterned tie and polished shoes.

Anne opted for a glamorous makeup look, wearing red lipstick, and wore her grey strands in her signature sleek updo.

During the garden party, Anne pinned a Silver Medal for Gallantry on Patch Harvey, an RNLI coxswain of the Penlee lifeboat station in Cornwall.

This medal honoured his exemplary display of courage, leadership and determination to save lives, along with his boat-handling skills in extreme weather.

King Charles' sister looked in high spirits as she walked around the garden, meeting those connected with the RNLI.

The RNLI celebrated its 200th anniversary this year and has saved over 146,277 lives, equating to an average of two lives saved every day since they've been in operation.

The King recently become patron of the RNLI, following in the footsteps of his mother, Queen Elizabeth.

The Duke of Kent also made an appearance at the garden party and was shown an RNLI lifeboat by Robert Aggas, the fleet operations manager of the RNLI.

He looked interested as he was pictured pointing to different elements on the boat, while Mr Aggas chatted to him.

Yesterday, Princess Anne was in Oslo meeting with her godson Prince Haakon of Norway at the Norwegian Resistance Museum.

Anne beamed and kissed the Crown Prince Haakon, 50, on the cheek and looked keen to catch up with the future Norwegian King.

Prince Haakon looked smart as he donned a navy suit with a crisp white shirt, a patterned tie and brown leather shoes.

Prince Haakon is the only son of King Harald V and Queen Sonja and he was christened in 1973.

Princess Anne was among the European royals to be his godmother, among King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Queen Margrethe of Denmark, the late King Olav V of Norway, Princess Astrid and Prince Carl Bernadotte.

The pair met up outside the museum and spoke to the 100-year-old war veteran, Trond Ivar Johansen.

The museum is located on top of Akershus fortress, a medieval castle, built in the late 1290's by King Haakon V to protect Oslo.
