Aaron Rodgers offers take on Jets’ schedule
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is well aware there is a bit of pressure on him and his team to deliver in 2024.
Despite their struggles in 2023, the Jets were given a heavy slate of prime-time games, including a pair of Thursday night contests in the first nine weeks and two appearances on “Monday Night Football.”
Rodgers is welcoming the pressure and even took note of one recent quote from one of the league’s schedule-makers.
“Supposedly we owe the league a little bit,” Rodgers told reporters on Tuesday.
That is a direct reference to a quote from NFL vice president of broadcast planning Mike North, who said the Jets “kind of owe us one” after 2023.
The Jets were a major national television focus last season, too, but that backfired when Rodgers suffered a season-ending injury minutes into Week 1.
The NFL is betting on Rodgers staying healthy and performing this season. If neither of those things happens, they are going to once again spotlight a mediocre Jets team, though it is a group that should generate plenty of drama no matter what.
