'Wheel of Fortune' Responds Over Contest Issue
"Wheel of Fortune" hosts Vanna White (L) and Pat Sajak on October 10, 2017, in Orlando, Florida. The "Wheel of Fortune" Instagram account has responded to a fan having issues with an online game.
A fan has pointed out a glaring issue with an online Wheel of Fortune game.
The popular show has eager viewers tuning in on a regular basis to see who takes home the top prize. Some even take it a step further and test their skills at home with the online Wheel of Fortune puzzles.
On the game show's website, there are three free games for people to play: Toss Up Challenge, Wheel Bingo and Bonus Round Puzzle. Unfortunately for one player, they had to take to Instagram to point out that one of the puzzles wasn't working.
"The online puzzle doesn't work when it needs an apostrophe. I tried at least ten times," they commented on a Wheel of Fortune Instagram post from May 22. Thankfully for that player, the account responded: "Sorry about that! If you are experiencing difficulties entering tonight's Bonus Puzzle on a mobile device, please try entering using a desktop computer or laptop."
It seems other people may also have been having issues, as someone else replied: "Thanks!"
Newsweek emailed Sony Pictures Television, which owns Wheel of Fortune, for comment on Thursday.
To play the online Bonus Puzzle, players must join the Wheel Watchers Club to receive a Spin ID.
"Wish you could win BIG MONEY like our contestants? Sign up today to get your personal SPIN ID and unlock chances to win $10,000 and other amazing prizes. It's fun and free!" it says on the website.
The show is about to have a shake-up, as Pat Sajak's tenure as the host is coming to an end, and many fans are not ready to say goodbye to the beloved entertainer.
Sajak, who has been the face of the iconic game show since 1981, has filmed his final episode, which will air on June 7.
In June 2023, Sajak announced in a post on X ( formerly Twitter) that he would be retiring at the end of Season 41, which started in September.
"Well, the time has come. I've decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It's been a wonderful ride, and I'll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it'll keep the clickbait sites busy!)" Sajak wrote at the time.
Just days after Sajak made his announcement and after much speculation about his replacement, American Idol host Ryan Seacrest was named as Wheel of Fortune's next host. He will take over for Season 42 this fall—and he has big shoes to fill.
Seacrest revealed his new role in an Instagram post in which he praised longtime host Sajak and shared his excitement about joining "the great" Vanna White on the show.
White, who has co-hosted Wheel of Fortune since 1982, recently extended her contract to remain on the show through the 2025-26 season after negotiating for her first pay raise in 18 years, according to Deadline.
