MVS Bringing MVP? New Bills WR Reveals Plan for Josh Allen
New Buffalo Bills receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling is getting quite comfortable in the practice of catching passes from All-Pro quarterback Josh Allen.
As the Bills progress through OTAs this week in Orchard Park, the veteran wideout — who signed a free agent contact with Buffalo last week — is hoping to find success in his new surroundings. He is also eager to help deliver two key pieces to Allen’s trophy case — which, to date, have eluded the Bills’ star quarterback.

“It’s been a blessing,” Valdes-Scantling said. “I’ve had great opportunities, winning two Super Bowls and being a part of those teams in Green Bay, watching Aaron (Rodgers) win MVPs. Hopefully, I can just keep bringing over good stuff. Hopefully, we can get Josh a Super Bowl and an MVP this year.”
Interestingly enough, Allen now becomes the third All-Pro quarterback with which Valdes-Scantling has been paired. The 6-4, 206-pound veteran spent his first two seasons with Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, before joining the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes in 2022.
Having joined the Chiefs in 2022, Valdes-Scantling immediately made an impact on the team, nearly setting a new career-high for single-season receiving yards by finishing with 687 (his highest total of 690 came in 2020) yards on a career-best 42 catches. During his two seasons of catching passes from Mahomes, he logged 1,002 yards on 63 receptions the three touchdowns.
Most importantly, Valdes-Scantling earned two Super Bowl victories during his time in Kansas City — the type of success which he hopes to bring to Allen in the near future.
Despite throwing for less than 30 touchdowns for the first time since 2019, and a career-high 18 interceptions, few will argue that Allen is still among the "best of the best" when it comes to NFL quarterbacks. The 27-year-old completed 66.5 percent of his passes last season, for 4,306 yards and 29 touchdowns. He also set an NFL record for quarterbacks by rushing for 15 scores.
Adding a receiver with the experience and on-field potential as Valdes-Scantling is a clear win for both Allen and the Bills.
Should he make good on his intentions, he will earn both their respect and affection, as well as Bills Mafia, for generations to come in western New York.
