Lewandowski explains what Barca need to win La Liga next season

Robert Lewandowski says he’s already looking forward to next season and is confident Barcelona can win titles in the 2024-25 campaign.

It’s been a tricky season for Xavi’s side this time around as Barca have failed to win trophies and will finish behind Real Madrid in second place.

Lewandowski says his team must improve and has called on Barcelona to have more control and ambition next season if they want to finish top of the pile in Spain again.

“We need to add points. Obviously, you have to always try to win, by a landslide and playing well because we are FC Barcelona, always looking for one more goal, regardless of the ones you have scored. But it has to be done under control, from stability,” he told Mundo Deportivo.

“To win the League you have to have ambition, but also if you see that you can’t win, you have to control and try not to lose and add points. We are preparing the mentality for next season, I would like next season to start now, and that is the feeling I also have from, inside the locker room.”

Lewandowski also pointed to the young players in the team as a reason for optimism ahead of the new campaign and feels they can kick on from a tough season.

“We know that we have great potential in the team, with very good players and we can win more games and win titles next season. I can also score more goals than last season and even two because I feel very good physically,” he added.

“Furthermore, this year we have played with many young players and I think it has been a great experience for them. This experience, facing next season, both for the young people and for the entire team, will help us win games that we have lost this year.

“I am sure that if we are focused on ourselves, we can think about titles for sure, in La Liga and in the Champions League, although there it also depends on luck. This year we also had bad luck with injuries as well.”

Barca wrap up the season against Sevilla but many players, including Lewandowski, are then set for a busy summer. Euro 2024 starts next month in June, while some players are set to feature at the Paris Olympics too.
