'They nailed it': PFF says Lions have had NFL's best offseason
The Lions pried open their Super Bowl window last year. After a flurry of impressive moves this offseason, that window doesn't appear to be shutting any time soon – and Pro Football Focus is taking notice.
PFF has graded every team's offseason and the Lions are the only team in the league to earn an 'A+' grade.
"It was a stellar offseason for the Lions, as they made major additions with minimal subtractions," wrote PFF's Trevor Sikkema.
The Lions may have lost cornerback C.J. Gardner-Johnson to free agency, but they revamped their beleaguered cornerback room with the additions of Carlton Davis II via trade, as well as Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the first two rounds of the draft.
Jonah Jackson was a steady presence at left guard over the past four seasons, but the Lions made up for his loss by bringing in veteran guard Kevin Zeitler, who grades out better in both run and pass blocking, according to PFF.
The offseason departure of receiver Josh Reynolds is one that hasn't been fully accounted for, but Jameson Williams finally turning into the receiver that was drafted 12th overall in 2022 would go a long way to making up for that loss.
Detroit also locked up offensive stars Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Penei Sewell for the foreseeable future with new long-term deals.
As Sikkema put it, the "Super Bowl window is still open."
