Ed Sheeran's blunt England Euros prediction after joining fans in stands

Singer Ed Sheeran has predicted that England will win the Euros following their epic win over Slovenia on Sunday.

The Galway Girl hitmaker, 33, flew to Germany over the weekend to watch the highly anticipated match as he watched the game with pals in the Arena AufSchalke. Ed was spotted sporting his England top as he clutched his paper cup, while anxiously watching the game unfold before England's big win.

England will now take on Switzerland in the last eight after they beat Italy on Saturday [June 29]. Ed has been a firm supporter of England during this year's Euro 2024 as earlier this month, he, along with Prince William led the way in support as England battled it out against Denmark. And now the singer has announced that he fully believes that his team could win the Euros.

Ed, who sponsors his own beloved football team, Ipswich Town, told Mail Online that he feels it in his bones that England could win this year's tournament. "Obviously England, init," the hitmaker said when asked who he thinks will champion team.

While Ed is standing firm in backing England - not everyone appears to share the same sentiment. Just a few days ago, singer Olly Murs hit out at the England team as he branded their Euros campaign a "snoozefest." England fans booed and reportedly threw plastic cups at the Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate following the draw against Slovenia. It was their second draw in two matches as the Euro 2024 group stages ended.

Before the match, Olly shared on social media his support at first but by the time it came to half-time after 45 minutes, he was falling asleep on his sofa. He shared a snap of him pretending to sleep and captioned the post: "H/T 0-0 Snoozing'ell." The new father of one, shared his disappointment with his followers with his song Heart Skips A Beat playing. He sang: "So Saka spin me around because football is not going to come home, and when you cross it to Kane you make my heart skip, skip a beat." This was then accompanied by a huge sigh.

It comes after Gareth Southgate praised his squad for their resilience after their epic win over Slovenia. The England manager said: "I'm so proud of the players and the spirit the lads showed,' he said. 'Everybody we put into the game played a part and helped us get over the line. They are all pushing and helping each other and tonight. That made the difference.

"Under that pressure they kept probing. In the end it is the old fashioned long throw that gets the goal. Those moments can happen when you keep wearing a team down," he added.
