2025 Cupra Terramar revealed… sort of
Cupra’s upcoming replacement for the current Ateca mid-size SUV has been spied undisguised in Europe, giving us a first look at the new model’s exterior design details.
The 2025 Cupra Terramar is seen here uncamouflaged wearing Spanish plates, naturally, and sporting an exterior look that’s quite a departure from the related Volkswagen Tiguan but very much in line with Cupra’s new models.
Up front the face looks very similar to what we’ve seen with the Tavascan as well as the facelifted Leon and Formentor, with a triangular LED signature in the angular headlights as well as a gaping low-mounted front intake.
Down the back there’s a wraparound LED light strip incorporating an illuminated Cupra logo, as well as a diffuser style lower bumper treatment that, on this car at least, goes without exposed tailpipes.

It’s understood the Terramar will be the final new Cupra model to be released with a combustion engine, offering mild-hybrid turbocharged petrol engines as well as a 200kW turbocharged plug-in hybrid with around 100km of range.
The Terramar will move from the Ateca’s older MQB platform to the newer and tech-heavy MQB evo architecture that underpins the Formentor and Leon as well as the Mk8 Golf and next-gen Tiguan. Expect the VW Group’s latest infotainment and assistance technologies to also be available.
It will sit above the Formentor in the range, being around 4.5 metres long and more spacious, much like the Tiguan is compared to the smaller T-Roc.
Cupra Australia has previously indicated it’s expecting the Terramar in local showrooms in 2025, part of a major product overhaul that will include facelifts to the Leon and Formentor, as well as the release of the all-new and all-electric Tavascan.

The Spanish performance brand is also expected to launch the go-fast Born VZ either late this year or early next, before the entire Born lineup goes in for a mid-life refresh sometime in 2025.
Additionally, the electric Raval pocket rocket (formerly known as the UrbanRebel), is expected to be revealed in production form in 2025, ahead of a 2025 or 2026 release in Australia.
