wta rankings: iga swiatek still untouchable, emma raducanu +33, caroline wozniacki and paula badosa back in top 100

Iga-Swiatek, Emma Raducanu and Caroline Wozniacki

Iga Swiatek started her 108th week at No 1 in the WTA Rankings on Monday with the top 10 unchanged ahead of Wimbledon, but the likes of Leylah Fernandez, Diana Shnaider, Caroline Wozniacki, Paula Badosa and Emma Raducanu were big winners.

Five-time Grand Slam winner Swiatek will kick off her grass-court Grand Slam on Tuesday without any matches on the surface under her belt this year as she opted to skip the warm-up events.

But the Pole remains in a league of her own at the top and she will stay at No 1 after Wimbledon as she has a 3,642-point advantage over second-placed Coco Gauff.

American Gauff, though, looks set to stay ahead of Aryna Sabalenka after the third major of the year as she doesn’t have any points to defend at Wimbledon after losing in the first round last year while the Belarusian will drop 780 points.

It means two-time Australian Open winner Sabalenka will have to reach the final and hope Gauff falls early again if she is to return to No 2.

Outside the top 10, Daria Kasatkina moved up two places to No 12 after winning the Eastbourne title and the player she beat in the final, Fernandez, earned a five-place jump to No 25.

American Emma Navarro now sits at a career-high No 17 after she reached the semi-final at Bad Homburg.

Navarro lost against Shnaider in the last four and the Russian went on to win the title, resulting in a 17 place rise to No 30.

There were some big movers further down the rankings as former world No 1 Wozniacki – who started the year at No 256 – surged 21 places to No 91 after reaching the last eight in Bad Homburg.

Former world No 2 Badosa is also back in the top 100 after she climbed 20 places after her run to the quarters in Germany.

Meanwhile, 2021 US Open champion Raducanu’s steady rise continued last week as she moved up 33 places to No 135 following a quarter-final appearance at Eastbourne. It is the British player’s highest position in just under a year and the good news for Raducanu is she doesn’t have any points to defend for the remainder of the year.
