Sky and Freeview users blocked from new content as TV channel closure confirmed

If you use platforms such as Sky or Freeview to get your fix of nightly entertainment there's now one less channel to watch. Seen on TV began broadcasting back in May with millions of homes able to tune in and view this QVC-style shopping channel for free. The service showcased household products on the screen which could then be purchased at discounted prices but after just a few weeks on air, it's now being closed for good.

Fans who were enjoying some retail therapy suddenly saw a black screen last week with the channel then suddenly disappearing from TV guides and Sky's planner. At first, it was suggested that technical issues had caused the blackout and things might return but now the team behind Seen on TV have confirmed its demise and say it's closing for good.

"This was a statement I was trying to put off, but it is with great sadness we are announcing the closure of Seen on TV," said Simon from the Seem on TV team.

"When I and our small team set out our vision for this channel it was based on fulfilling a gap in the market with a loyal customer base looking for branded items at excellent prices. We also just wanted to have fun doing what we loved most.

"We achieved this goal in launching Seen on TV, but sadly financial and technical restraints out of our control have led to its closure.

"The technical issues were so severe, the cost to fix them are just too high to responsibly carry on and we have had to call in external help and there are still ongoing investigations.

"I am glad in the week we were live, we were able to put a smile on your faces and entertain you."

This shutdown means there's one less channel to watch but Sky users have just been treated to an upgrade that does add more content to their screens.

It was confirmed last week that the Mvmnt fitness service is now available across all of Sky's devices including Sky Q, Sky Stream and Sky Glass.

This heart-pumping platform offers a swathe of fitness classes such as Pilates, strength training, cardio, meditation and yoga. A trainer takes you through each class and there are different levels depending on your current fitness. You can even do a quick 5-minute routine if you are running short on time.

There's currently a special offer which lets you gain full access for free although this only lasts for the first 5 weeks. After that, you'll need to pay £7.99 per month to continue using it.
