Nine players leave Tottenham in summer exodus as Ange Postecoglou eyes transfers

Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham squad has been shaken up after nine players wound down their contracts and departed the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Since the Australian manager joined the club, some key names have been ousted from the first-team picture. And numerous peripheral players have now left the club.

Spurs have already spent big this summer. Bringing in Leeds United starlet Archie Gray cost them £35million, and they are nowhere near close to being finished in the transfer market.

Meanwhile, among those to have departed are a former England international, Tottenham's most expensive signing, and some young stars who never lived up to their potential in N17.

Many of these exits were announced well before they officially timed out at the end of June, with Eric Dier one of the first to be told his contract would not be renewed. The England international centre-back left Spurs to join Thomas Tuchel's Bayern Munich on loan in January and enjoyed a decent spell under the German.

His stay at the Allianz then became permanent on an initial contract until 2025, which saw him depart for good alongside Ivan Perisic, who returned to his homeland of Croatia with Hajduk Split. Perisic, too, will stay with the club he was loaned out to, as the initial deal became permanent as soon as his Tottenham contract expired.

Two English youngsters who were tipped for great things also left the club as Japhet Tanganga joined Millwall permanently following a loan spell with the Championship side, and Ryan Sessegnon departed with the view to sign with another team on a free transfer. Crystal Palace have shown the greatest interest in signing the former Fulham starlet.

At £63million, Tanguy Ndombele is still Tottenham's record signing, and his time with the club was also up after a series of unsuccessful spells on loan. Joining in 2019 and moving back on loan to Lyon, Napoli, and Galatasaray after failing to make a dent on the first-team, the French midfielder's potential was never tapped into. He has reportedly agreed to join OGC Nice on a free transfer.

Young centre-half Charlie Sayers, scholarship player Billy Heaps, and U18 squad members Kieran Morgan and Han Willhoft-King are the remaining players who depart, having failed to make an impact on the first team.

Spurs have cleared house and still remain in the position to sell, paving the way for a few more summer signings as Ange Postecoglou hunts for success.
