2026 sleeper QB Michael White impresses at Badgers camp
2026 Indiana quarterback Michael White
The Wisconsin Badgers hosted a bevy of quarterbacks at their camps this summer, and 2026 recruit Michael White was one of the bigger sleepers of the group.
A native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, White headed to Wisconsin as a part of his busy summer schedule and threw alongside a number of talented quarterbacks, where he impressed with a good deep ball, and nice touch and accuracy with his throws.
“I think I did pretty good compared to the other quarterbacks,” White said after the camp. “I was trying to just do my thing and what I’ve been working on all season with people that have been helping me throughout the way, just trying to prove that I could go division one and play football.”
A big key to White’s day was his deep ball, both to receivers running routes on air and during 1-on-1s.
“Most definitely, [I’ve worked on my deep ball]. I only played two years of quarterback. I was originally a receiver, so, yeah, I mean, my quarterback coach has helped me a lot through deep balls and short balls. That’s what I’ve been working on the most.”
Now, as he progresses as a quarterback, White is looking to understand the game at a higher level, which makes sense given that he’s fairly new to the position.
“[I’m looking forward to] just understanding the game a lot more like the book side of it. Just trying to understand coverages a little bit more so I could determine defenses a little bit faster. So get ready for next season that way.”
White got to briefly speak with offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Phil Longo, who told the quarterback that he’d be in touch following the visit.
“Yes, I did [speak with Coach Longo]. He said he would be in touch with me during the week. I’m going to Notre Dame tomorrow, so during the week he’ll be in touch with me after that.”
It’s been a busy summer for White, who has now been to Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Purdue, Louisville, Indiana, and a couple of mega camps as he looks to get on the radar of D-I programs.
What is he looking for in a school at the next level?
“[I’m] looking for people that I like, a school that passes the ball. I want to pass the ball a lot. Other than that, I just look for good coaches, good communication, and someone that really can trust me to carry an offense.”
But, for now, White is looking to continue growing as a player, with his main objective for next year being a state championship.
“My goal for next year is obviously: get a state championship. That’s the number one goal. We want to win the conference and we want to just help my guys get looked at for recruiting. I mean, Fort Wayne’s overlooked because you got Indy schools, so, I mean, I want to get our guys looked at and spread the love over at Fort Wayne.”
