David Hancko does not expect to follow Arne Slot from Feyenoord to Liverpool despite his impressive displays at Euro 2024.

Hancko, 26, was part of the Slovakia team which nearly knocked out England in the last-16 in Germany but is instead now focused on the future ahead of a big summer.

A number of clubs are circling for the left-back, who has revealed his stance on a potential move to Anfield after talks with Slot.

“I think that in three years he will be among the best coaches in the world,” Hancko told Dutch outlet Voetbal International. “I can see that happening, because I know what he did with us and now he has the biggest platform to show that.

“I have a lot of confidence in him and his staff, and I don't say that because I hope to go with him to Liverpool, because that is unlikely.

“I have spoken to him a few times since the end of the season, but I don't think they are looking for a player in my position, so I don't think a transfer to Liverpool will happen.

“But I wish him the best of luck, he really is a fantastic coach.”

Liverpool have Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas both under contract for at least the next two seasons, while Joe Gomez has stepped into the left side of defence in recent times.

Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Napoli have all been linked with Hancko following two years in Rotterdam.

Reports on his future suggest a transfer fee ranging from £21million to £42m may be required to secure his signature and his agent, Branislav Jasurek, recently named the leading contenders to seal a deal.

“Of all the clubs that are interested in David Hancko, Atletico Madrid are in first place for us,” he is quoted as telling Spanish media last month.

“The other offers are only at the level of talks. Nothing else has come up.

On the idea of playing under Diego Simeone, Jasurek added: “David likes it, but he doesn't have a release clause, that would make it easier. A fee of €40-50m (£33-42m) is too much.”
