Brandon Aiyuk's Mother Switches Loyalty Amid the NFL WR's Contract Dispute With the 49ers
Brandon Aiyuk's potential exit will cost the 49ers a loyal fan! The NFL WR's future at the San Francisco 49ers is currently hanging in balance. Aiyuk's rookie contract is set to expire after the 2024 season and there seems to be no agreement for an extension in sight! In case, the parties don't work things out, Aiyuk could walk away and take one of the most loyal 49ers with him.
The person in question. is Brandon Aiyuk's mother. While her name is not public, her fandom for the San Francisco 49ers certainly is! After the California native was drafted to the 49ers in 2020, Aiyuk posted a childhood photo of himself in the San Francisco colors and shared the excitement on his X (formerly Twitter) account. BA also revealed how his mother's fandom influenced him. "My mom has been a huge 49ers fan her whole life... so that kind of bled on me a little bit when I was younger."

Seeing her son play for her favorite franchise was no doubt a great feeling for her. However, In his June 28 appearance on The Pivot Podcast, the 49ers star made an interesting revelation! According to Aiyuk, his mother isn't retaining her fandom for the York family-owned franchise amid the contract drama with her son. The Arizona State alumni claimed Mama Aiyuk wouldn't care if he moved on to another team. "She on my side right now, she don't care too much about them colors right now. She's trying to make sure her son is straight," said the WR.
In the same show, Brandon Aiyuk also shared some insights into the potential teams he may join. Washington Commanders or Pittsburgh Steelers are apparently the franchises interested in him. Interestingly, Aiyuk had a funny interaction with the Commanders' Jayden Daniels when the former told the QB that the 49ers didn't 'want him back.' Though the trade speculations are rampant, Brandon may end up staying at the 49ers.

Brandon Aiyuk spoke to TMZ Sports at LAX on June 28 and provided more clarity on his future. When asked about whether he wants to be a part of the Niner Empire in 2024, Aiyuk simply added, "For sure." However, the NFL star isn't too fussed about the contract situation and claimed, "I'm just vibing, man. I'm just hanging out."
Since joining the Red and Gold, Aiyuk has contributed with 25 touchdowns and 3,931 yards. BA's impeccable performances last season ensured that the Niners play the 8th Super Bowl game in their history. Hence, from his POV, Aiyuk deserves to be in the same $30 million per season bracket with fellow WRs like Tyreek Hill and Justin Jefferson.
Aiyuk's rookie contract has earned him only $14,124,000, a number which is in the same ballpark as Jefferson's rookie contract ($13,298,172). But ahead of the 2024 season, the Vikings handed their WR a four-year $140 million contract extension. Reportedly, there is a contract offer on the table for the Aiyuk that's worth $26 million per year. But, the 49ers wide receiver is apparently holding out for more cash. Amid interest from the Commanders and the Steelers, will Aiyuk get his dream contract to play for his mom's favorite team? Only time will tell.
