Liza Marcos meets with investment, energy authorities in Abu Dhabi

First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos has met with officials of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), a sovereign wealth fund owned by the Abu Dhabi government in the United Arab Emirates.

In an Instagram post, the first lady described her meeting with the ADIA as ''productive.''

“Had a productive meeting with the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority —one of the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world!” she said. ''Thank you for the insightful discussions!''

The first lady was joined in the meeting by Maharlika Investment Corp. (MIC) president Rafael Consing Jr.

MIC is the government-owned firm that manages the Philippines’ first sovereign wealth fund, the Maharlika Investment Fund.

Marcos also separately met with representatives from Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation and Filipino community leaders.

''I was amazed to learn about the UAE's commitment to foster clean energy worldwide. We had an interesting discussion on how these innovations are shaping a sustainable future,'' she said.

Meanwhile, the Emirates News Agency said Marcos had discussions with Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan, wife of UAE president Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on several matters.

''The two sides discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation between entities in both countries across various fields, especially in culture, arts, and heritage. They also explored ways to enrich the cultural and artistic landscape in both nations, with a particular focus on early childhood development and investment in human capital, which is a priority,'' the report said.

Marcos also toured the Qasr Al Watan, the presidential palace of the UAE, and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. —Ted Cordero/VBL, GMA Integrated News
