Labour’s attack-pillow warns voters not to ‘wake up to five more years of the Tories’

Labour has warned voters not to “wake up to five more years of the Tories” as the election campaign enters its final week.

In its latest campaign stunt, the party printed the warning on pillows alongside a mocked-up image of Rishi Sunak lying in bed.

Steve Reed, the Labour shadow environment secretary, handed them out to journalists on the Labour battle bus shortly after 7am on Monday.

Mr Reed, in a mini-stump talk, warned the British electorate not to wake up on July 5 with the “hangover” of having left the Tories in office.

The stunt mirrors a Labour attack ad from 2005 which showed a voter waking up after a one-night stand before realising she cannot get them out of the house.

The advert warned voters, “don’t wake up with Conservative”.
