PHILTRA bags 17 medals in SEA 2024 Trail Running Cup

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Trail Running squad reigned supreme in the Southeast (SEA) 2024 Trail Running Cup after racking up 17 medals last June 20-23, at the Bontoc, Mountain Province.
The Filipino trail runners tallied a total of six gold, eight silver, and three bronze medals to dominate the tournament.
After this momentous feat, the runners were welcomed and honored by Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Richard Bachmann, and Exec. Dir. Paulo Francisco Tatad at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex on June 28, Friday.
In the men's division, John Ray Onifa, Godfrey Farnican, and Rayven Jay Eta clinched the gold medal in the Short Trail (37km), Mountain Classic (12km), and Mountain Classic-Junior categories, respectively.
The female trail runners also displayed strong endurance as Trisha Reyes dominated the Short Trail event, while Elizabeth Dangadang, and Luisa Cuerpo finished first in the Long Trail, and Mountain Classic-Junior events, respectively.
Onifa also took the silver in the 6-kilometer Vertical Kilometer Uphill race, while his female counterpart Cara Dacnis also had the same finish.
Two silvers in the Short Trail event were from, Romnick Tongkaling, and Christabel Martes.
In the Long Trail category, Larry Apolinario, and Angelie Cabalo conquered the 77-km trail and finished as runner-ups.
While in Mountain Classic, Charlotte Ann Muyco, and Lance Naral also copped the silver awards.
The bronze finishers were: Godwin Mirar, Arnie Macarenas, and Samuel Bango, who booked the last spot on the podium of the Short Trail, Long Trail, and Mountain Classic events, respectively.
