Watch: Rangers rookie hits for MLB's first cycle of 2024 season

The Texas Rangers had huge expectations for rookie outfielder Wyatt Langford entering this season, and after a slow start he is really starting to figure it out.

Sunday night was his biggest breakout game of the season as he hit for the cycle (single, double, triple, home run) in their 11-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

He completed the cycle by hitting a three-run home run down the left field line in the top of the eighth inning.

He is just the 15th rookie to hit for the cycle since the official rookie designation was created in 1958. It is also the first cycle of the 2024 season across the league.

Prior to homering in the eighth inning, Langford tripled in the top of the fourth inning, doubled in the top of the fifth inning and singled in the top of the sixth inning.

He finished the game going 4-for-5 with four runs batted in. He flied out in his first at-bat of the game.

Langford is now hitting .260 for the season with a .713 OPS. While those numbers might not jump off the stat sheet, it is important to keep in mind he was playing college baseball a year ago. He has also taken a huge leap forward in the month of June, finishing the month with an OPS over .800 in 97 at-bats.

He has star potential, and he is now starting to show it and figure it out against the highest competition.
