Lower electricity tariffs for non-domestic users from July 1
Water and sewage operators, as well as specific agriculture and low voltage non-domestic users will enjoy a reduced rate from 3.7 sen/kWh to 2.7 sen/kWh.
PUTRAJAYA: Electricity tariffs will be adjusted from July 1 with the rates lowered for non-domestic users.
The rates for domestic users will stay unchanged, the energy transition and water transformation ministry announced today.
Water and sewage operators, as well as specific agriculture and low voltage non-domestic users will enjoy a reduced rate from 3.7 sen/kWh to 2.7 sen/kWh.
Meanwhile, the tariff rate for street lights under local councils will be reduced from 10 sen/kWh to 9 sen/kWh.
Other non-domestic users will see a decrease in their rate to 16 sen/kWh from the previous 17 sen/kWh.
About 34,000 users are expected to benefit from this reduced tariff rate.
The new tariffs will be in force until Dec 31, with the energy transition and water transformation ministry to review it before the new year.
Meanwhile, domestic consumers with a monthly electricity consumption of up to 1,500 kWh will continue to enjoy no surcharge.
The surcharge will also be maintained at 10 sen/kWh for domestic consumers with a monthly consumption exceeding 1,500kWh.
