Red Sox won't have any position players starting in 2024 All-Star Game
The MLB All-Star Game is just a few weeks away, and the Boston Red Sox won't have any position players starting the contest between the American League and National League.
On Thursday, the results of the All-Star Game fan vote were announced on ESPN, with the top two vote-getters at each position advancing to the second phase of voting.
For Boston, third baseman Rafael Devers finished third behind Cleveland's Jose Ramirez and Baltimore's Jordan Westburg. Catcher Connor Wong finished fourth behind Baltimore's Adley Rutschman, Kansas City's Salvador Perez and Cleveland's Bo Naylor.
Red Sox outfielders Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu and Tyler O'Neill finished 16th, 19th and 20th while the top five included New York's Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, Cleveland's Stevan Kwan, Baltimore's Anthony Santander and Houston's Kyle Tucker.
Boston could still have some players make the roster through the player ballot, and they could even have Tanner Houck start the game on the mound if he continues his stellar start to the season. However, these results are obviously disappointing because of just how good some of these Red Sox have been this year.
