Wicklow book lovers can snap up some rare bargains at summer at library sale
Book lovers in Bray can mark their calendars for Saturday, July 6, as Wicklow County Council is hosting a huge book sale at Ballywaltrim Library, featuring a wide range of ex-library stock, with all proceeds going to support the Bray Women’s Refuge.
The sale promises a treasure trove of hard-to-find items and rare books, including Irish history and biography, law, gardening, cookery and other non-fiction topics.
Additionally, if you’re planning a getaway and need a few books for the suitcase, there will be a plentiful selection of adult fiction available.
There will also be out-of-print and rare books on sale, and this will be a great opportunity to get your hands on a sought after item. No item will be priced over €5, with most books available at €1 or less.
Visitors to the book sale are encouraged to bring along books in very good condition to contribute to the fundraiser. Please ensure that the donated books are clean, intact, and free from any damage, such as missing covers or pages.
Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Cllr Paul O’Brien, expressed his interest in relation to sustainability, and remarked on the sale as a good opportunity to ensure books find a new home.
“This book sale exemplifies the principles of the circular economy, ensuring that books at the end of their shelf life get a new lease of life. It's a wonderful opportunity for these books to be enjoyed and appreciated by new readers," he said.
Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council Emer O’Gorman commented: "We're pleased to provide the public with a chance to give these books another opportunity to be read, I noticed many potential holiday reads in the pile, perfect for summer relaxation."
This is a worthwhile opportunity to join the library or borrow some books, so don't miss out on a great opportunity to enrich your collection and support a good cause. The event will run all day at Ballywaltrim Library, Boghall Road, Bray.
