Stock market could pump after Trump-Biden showdown: D.R. Barton
On the markets this morning, Dow is going to open with a lot of about 100 points, NASDAQ down about 20. Dr. Barton with us this morning. Historically, debate don't seem to make that much difference to the market, you know, the day after, but do you think this one might be different? I think it might be, Stuart. I think it might solidify some things. People out there are already thinking about either candidate and they can vote their minds, consciences and hearts. Clearly after tonight, I think that's going to happen. We've looked back at the data all the way back to to Nixon, to Nixon, Kennedy debates and looked at what happened One day, five days, 10 days after, you're right, not much difference. After 10 days, a little bit of a pop, but the day after about a 58% chance. The market being up? OK, let's move on to your stock picks, starting with Intel. OK, you like them. Well, I do like them, and I hope Adams not snickering next to you in the chair, but here's why. All of that chip money that's flowing in the the support money for US chip makers, a lion's share has gone to Intel. I believe Intel showed in the first quarter a tiny sign of life for AI networking in the future for doing some really better work than they've been doing. I think they've been down for so long that their their baseline business and PCs is going to sustain them until they play a little bit of catch up with the help of some of our money on the AI side. Now there was a time not too long ago when you were on the show and you said you were waiting. This was after the invidious stock split and you said, I asked would you buy it? And you said, yeah, I'm waiting for the dip. Well, we got a dip. It was down 13%. Did you buy it? We did buy a little more. We added to the position, Stuart, we like NVIDIA long, long term and I think dips are to be bought in that behemoth until somebody else can come in and challenge them at that highest end. AI application, hardware and support services data that there's nobody else that's going to that's going to that's going to challenge them in the near term. Thanks very much indeed. We will see you again real soon.
