Girls Aloud slash ticket prices after failing to sell out O2 Arena dates

Girls Aloud have reduced their ticket prices after they failed to sell out their O2 Arena dates for their UK Tour. It has been reported that the pop band have slashed ticket prices by up to 60 per cent.

The pop group are putting on 30 shows across the UK and Ireland during May and June. It'll be their seventh arena tour and will feature all of the band's historic pop hits.

However, it has since been reported by The Evening Standard that the girl band have failed to sell out their three London dates at the O2 Arena, with some prices being lowered from £100 to £30 last week.

According to the ticket seller AXS, there are sections in the iconic O2 Arena that are still available. The publication also suggested that the low-interest could be to do with Taylor Swift also performing at the same time at Wembley Stadium.

The American songstress performed three times over the weekend to a 90,000 sold-out crowd, with famous faces such as Andrew Scott, Tom Cruise and Phoebe Wallerbridge also in attendance.

Girls Aloud was formed in 2002 and consisted of five members - Nadine Coyle, Sarah, Cheryl, Nicola Roberts and Kimberly Walsh. The group parted ways in 2013 but have recently reunited for an arena tour to honour Sarah's memory.

Sarah died at the age of 39 in September 2021 after a battle with breast cancer. She came to prominence via Popstars: The Rivals in 2002 and made her name singing alongside Cheryl in the pop band Girls Aloud.

Sarah announced that she was undergoing chemotherapy at the age of 38 and that the disease had spread to other parts of her body in 2021.

During the first night of their tour in Dublin, Cheryl became visibly emotional as old clips of Sarah were being projected on a live screen behind the girl band.

As the soundtrack 'I'll Stand By You' was being played, she linked arms with fellow band members Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts as they fought back tears.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift will be back in Wembley for a five-night stint in August. She is due to perform on the 15, 16, 17, 19 and 20 of August.
