BBC Call the Midwife favourite confirms future on show after sad exit
A long-running Call the Midwife cast member has now been spotted filming scenes for the next series, following concern among fans that they had left the period drama.
Helen George, 40, has played character Trixie Franklin on the BBC show since it debuted in 2012. Some viewers feared that she had been written out of the show following a scene in the most recent series, which aired earlier this year.
She's however been seen working on the next series, which is due to launch next year, alongside colleagues recently. It was announced earlier this month that filming had begun, after filming for this year's Christmas special had ended.
The actor was photographed on location for Call the Midwife amid the production. Helen was spotted wearing two different outfits whilst on set for the show. Some photos showed her leaving a building in a nurses uniform.
Helen - who's among the few remaining original cast members on the show - was also seen sporting biege shirt and green skirt, which is believed to have been part of her wardrobe for the role. The upcoming series is expected to take place in the 1970s, moving the show into a new decade.

There had been concern that Helen had left the acclaimed show following series 13's finale, which aired in March. The episode saw Trixie hint that she would be leaving Poplar to reunite with her husband Matthew Aylward (played by Olly Rix), who had moved to New York for work, in the US.
During the finale, Trixie spoke to Matthew on the phone and he told her: "It's not forever. In four or five months time I can come home and manage things from a distance." Her husband went on to state: "But I wish you were here."
After the couple reminisced together, Matthew reiterated: "I wish you were here." Trixie responded: "I will be soon. I'm coming out to join you." Delighted, her husband replied to the news by telling Trixie: "Thank you. It's not forever."

At the time, one fan tweeted: "Trixie better not be leaving." Another said: "Is Trixie leaving for good?!? Say it ain't so!" The concern was shared by others, including a fan who wrote: "Oh Trixie. I don't want her to leave." Whilst someone said: "Aww Trixie - right decision but so going to miss you."
It was however revealed by the Mirror that same week that despite the fears that Helen would leave the show for good, she was expected to return for the next series. The actor later appeared to confirm this herself on social media.
Addressing the finale, a source told us ahead of the episode airing: "This series ends with the firm impression that Trixie is off to America to start a new life with her husband and young step-son. But the good news is her trip will be fleeting, and Helen will be back to carry on next year."
Helen then posted a photo of herself sat in a dressing room wearing a period costume in May. And she tagged the BBC show's account in the post on Instagram, seemingly teasing last month that she had returned for more filming.
