Mysterious Monolith Appears in Another US State
One of the monoliths that have popped up in the U.S - this one stands on a Stadium Park hillside in Atascadero, California in 2020. The most recent monolith has been discovered in Colorado.
A monolith has randomly appeared in Colorado, and everyone, including the owners of the land it sits on, is puzzled about how it got there.
Social media is flooded with images of the reflective structure, which is around 8 feet tall and 4 feet wide. It popped up on some private property owned by Rob and Lori Graves, in Bellvue, Fort Collins, and the monolith is now bolted to a concrete pad.
Lori told television station KDVR: "Someone came into the cafe and said, 'Where is the monolith? Where is the alien monolith?'" She said she does not know who erected it but has some ideas. "I almost don't want to ruin the mystery around it. I'm not going to ask people."
Multiple theories have been doing the rounds online, including the one that often comes up when monoliths are being discussed; that aliens left it there.
In a Fort Collins subreddit, someone put forward the idea that someone had built the monolith just to mess with people who believe in aliens.
The poster said: "So I went to the alien structure, and asked around. Apparently the story is, one of the homeowners in the area believes in aliens, and conspiracies; so his neighbor decided to build one, and set it up on the hill, to mess with him. Sadly nothing out of this world."
Some users replied with jokes such as: "I, for one, welcome our new monolith alien overlords."
Another (u/Steven_G_Photos) wrote: "Just the kind of explanation an alien conspirator would have in their back pocket, ready to cover over the evidence of their landing site!"
Earlier this month, a mirrored monolith appeared near Gass Peak, just north of the valley in Las Vegas.
It was discovered by the Las Vegas Search & Rescue Organization. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department posted a photo of the structure on X, formerly Twitter, saying: "We see a lot of weird things when people go hiking like not being prepared for the weather, not bringing enough water... but check this out!"
Several similar monoliths have popped up across the U.S. before, with the first of this kind showing up in November 2020, in a remote part of the Utah desert.
This monolith was eventually removed by officials, who said it needed to be taken away to protect wildlife and land.
Monoliths can vary in appearance with some looking silver, and others appearing gold; while some have a shiny finish, and others, matte.
The structures have also been discovered in other countries, including the U.K., Romania and Colombia.
