Bad Boys: Ride or Die Passes Major Domestic Box-Office Mark
Bad Boys: Ride or Die continues to live a charmed life during its theatrical run. Less than three weeks after its debut, the latest sequel in the Bad Boys saga passes a major domestic box-office milestone.
Per Collider, Ride or Die, which stars long-time collaborators Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, has now grossed $151 million across North American cinemas since its Jun. 7 premiere, earning $2.5 million on Jun. 25. Thanks to passing the $150 million mark domestically, the fourth film of the Bad Boys series has now grossed over $293 million worldwide. It is also expected to cross the $300 million milestone this weekend.

Smith and Lawrence reprise their roles as Detective Lieutenant Mike Lowrey and Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett in Ride or Die, which sees their characters battle crooked cops to try and preserve the legacy of late police chief Captain Howard (Joe Pantoliano). Ride or Die has received solid critical reviews and widespread audience approval, with the sequel boasting a franchise-high 97% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Smith and Lawrence feature in Ride or Die alongside Eric Dane, Ioan Gruffudd, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Dennis McDonald, Jacob Scipio, Tasha Smith, Tiffany Haddish and Paola Núñez.

For Smith, Ride or Die is a much-needed shot in the arm for his Hollywood career after his reputation nosedived thanks to his infamous slap at Chris Rock on stage at the 94th Academy Awards. The latest Bad Boys installment even features a wink-and-nod reference to the slap during its closing stages. Smith recently landed his latest major role on the back of Ride or Die's success as the Oscar-winning actor will feature in Sony's upcoming sci-fi flick, Resistor.
Despite being 55 and 59 years old respectively, Smith and Lawrence plan to return for one more Bad Boys sequel before handing over the proverbial torch to younger actors. Franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently revealed behind-the-scenes discussions about a potential Bad Boys 5 have occurred.
