BBC soap schedule in chaos as Euros cancels huge show this weekend
Soap fans will not be pleased to find out that Casualty will not be airing for the next two weeks.
Bosses of the BBC One medical drama have plenty of drama lined up in Holby City Hospital but as the UEFA European Championship continues to change the TV landscape, the broadcaster has made drastic changes to its schedule.
The long-running soap will not be aired on June 29, 2024, as it has been replaced by coverage of the football competition, due on screens from 4.30pm to 10.10pm.
Casualty has also been scrapped by the Beeb on Saturday, July 6, as the live reporting around the Euro 2024 is set to continue. But football is not the only sporting event to shake things up on screens as tennis tournament Wimbledon is set to make a return on July 1, 2024, hinting at more TV chaos.

The popular soap has recently aired a twelve-part miniseries titled Storm Damage, which includes a plethora of dramatic scenes with Cam (played by Barney Walsh) at the core of turmoil. In recent weeks, viewers were also shaken to see fan favourite paramedic Teddy (Milo Clarke) become the victim of sexual assault during a hen do, with a video of his attack broadcasted online.
Two episodes of Storm Damage have so far been aired, with newcomer Sophia Peters, portrayed by former EastEnders star Kellie Shirley, catching the attention of well-established character Dylan Keogh, but a return date for the drama has yet to be revealed.
Soaps fans have been left gutted by the numerous changes to their schedules in recent news, and this week was no different. Tuesday, June 25, left ITV viewers without their Emmerdale fix after the Yorkshire-based program was replaced by the broadcaster's coverage of England and Slovenia's stalemate match (0-0).
On Wednesday, Coronation Street fans also saw their patience put to the test as another instalment of the long-running program was cancelled in favour of more Euro coverage.
EastEnders, on the other hand, was still aired over on BBC Two, as politics got in the way on its usual channel with an explosive debate between Sir Keir Starmer and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
The Euro 2024 have also greatly impacted other programs in recent weeks, most notably Loose Women, BBC's Repair Shop and Love Island.
