Fortnite’s Pirates of the Caribbean mythic will surely break the game

"You'd best start believing in ghost stories, Ms. Turner...you're in one." Practice your best sea shanties because Pirates of the Caribbean is coming to Fortnite. Although the Jack Sparrow-themed Cursed Sails Pass was leaked early, you'll have to hold on until July 19 to officially unlock the rum-swilling pirate.

Fortnite often has big mid-season refreshes, and for Chapter 5 Season 3, it looks like that involves giving the parched desert map a nautical makeover. More than just a new POI and skins, Epic Games is seemingly rolling out the big guns (well, canons) with a new Mythic weapon.

Fortnite leakers show off OP pirate ship Mythic

As showcased by Fortnite leaker HYPEX, the new Ship in a Bottle Mythic is a giant ship in a bottle. By throwing it on the floor, a ghostly pirate ship will break free and fly around the map. In addition to damaging players, buildings, and vehicles, the Mythic will apparently continue inflicting damage with every new hit.

Lasting for a minute, it's also not clear whether your ship can be damaged. If it can't, it's sure to be a lethal weapon that will add even more carnage to an already adrenaline-packed season. Epic quickly had to nerf vehicles after they were ridiculously hard to take out and dealt an insane amount of damage.

The Ship in a Bottle Mythic isn't official yet, but looking at the comments, you're already worried that it's going to be a beast. One sceptic joked, "What in the world 🤣," while another added, "They’re gonna nerf this the first three days." A third said, "This is gonna destroy people so fast omg 😭."

Namely, we can only imagine the backlash that the competitive community will level on this one. Many seemed to think a Pirates-themed Mythic would be a twist on the Junk Rift, but you've got to admit this is so much cooler.

Then again, picture the scene where the final circle is squads all hopping on their own version of the Black Pearl and tearing around the map. It could always be worse, it could be Call of Duty: Warzone being accused of actively adding cheaters.
