WIMBLEDON, England (AP) — How well do you know Wimbledon, the Grand Slam tennis tournament that begins Monday on the grass courts of the All England Club? Give this AP quiz a try:

1st Round: Williams sisters

Neither Serena Williams, who played the last match of her career in 2022, nor Venus Williams, who has participated in just seven matches over the past 12 months, is entered in Wimbledon this year. When was the last time the tournament was held without at least one of the sisters — who have combined to win 12 singles championships at the All England Club — in the field?

Answers

1st Round. b. Venus Williams made her debut at Wimbledon in 1997; Serena Williams made her tournament debut the following year. Since then, the only times one missed the event (which wasn't held in 2020, because of the coronavirus pandemic), the other was there — until now.

2nd Round. c. Becker was 17 when he won Wimbledon in 1985 — and he was also the second-youngest, winning again a year later at 18. Borg was a younger 20 in 1976 than Alcaraz was in 2023.

3rd Round. d. Gauff was the 60th woman to earn a Grand Slam singles title in the professional era. Of them, 32 have won at least two.

4th Round. b. Gasquet, who turned 38 this month, went into Wimbledon qualifying with 1,004 matches for his career.

Quarterfinals. a. Court went 8-0 in major finals at the start of the Open era, although she previously lost Slam finals in the amateur era. Seles started her career 6-0.

Semifinals. a. Jabeur did it last year at the All England Club en route to finishing as the runner-up to Marketa Vondrousova. Jabeur eliminated No. 9 Petra Kvitova in the fourth round, No. 3 Elena Rybakina in the quarterfinals and No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals. The previous woman to get past a trio of top 10 foes at Wimbledon was Serena Williams in 2012.

Final. c. Lleyton Hewitt defeated David Nalbandian in straight sets 22 years ago. After that, Federer won the event a men’s-record eight times, Djokovic won it seven times, and Nadal and Murray each won it twice. Alcaraz ended the streak by defeating Djokovic in last year's final.
