Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Four exits, two new arrivals
In today’s Kaizer Chiefs transfers and rumours news, four players are leaving the club. A host of others are linked with switches to Naturena too.
Kaizer Chiefs transfers: Senior quartet released
SABC Sport reported that Kaizer Chiefs have released Siyethemba Sithebe, Keagan Dolly and Sifiso Hlanti. Njabulo Ngcobo follows them out the exit door and is expected to sign a contract with Sekhukhune United. George Matlou and Itumeleng Khune are two other players whose contracts expire at the end of June 2024. So far, there’s no clarity of their immediate futures.
“SABC Sport can confirm Sifiso Hlanti, Keagan Dolly and Siyethemba Sithebe will be all leaving Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the week following a decision by the club not to retain their services ahead of the new season. According to information received by the public broadcaster, the Amakhosi hierarchy was waiting on the incoming technical team to make a call on several of the out-of-contract players at Naturena. Hlanti, Dolly and Sithebe being among them have since been informed that Chiefs are going in a different direction and are now permitting them to speak to other clubs,” they wrote.

Two new faces in the technical team
Two faces have arrived at Naturena, ready for work before the 2024-2045 campaign. French-Portuguese coach Fernando Da Cruz is at the club and goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi has followed suit. Four more technical team members will arrive working alongside head coach Nasreddine Nabi.
52-year-old Da Cruz has an interesting background having played professional futsal for France, collecting 55 caps. From a coaching perspective, he’s taken assistant charge of Wasquehal in France and Mouscron in Belgium, before getting the top job at the latter in 2014. From there, he took charge of the Lille B side and ran scouting operations for a team famous for its recruitment of top talent and player sales with enormous profits. Most recently, he’s been the assistant at AS FAR, Nabi’s club.

Sundowns ready to spoil the Kaizer Chiefs party
SoccerLaduma believes that Sundowns are ready to ramp up efforts to sign 25-year-old Bafana striker Khanyisa Mayo from Cape Town City. The Umtata-born star bagged 10 goals in 28 league appearances for the Citizens last term, helping them secure fifth place in the league. City owner John Comitis has named a staggering R36 Million asking price for his star forward. Mayo was the joint-top scorer with 12 goals in the 2022-2023 season alongside Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile.
