“It very much comes full-circle,” star Iain Armitage teased.
As Young Sheldon gears up to say its final “bazinga!” the cast is prepping fans for a “bittersweet” ending.
The stars of the show — including Emily Osment, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, Zoe Perry, Annie Potts, Iain Armitage, and Lance Barber — took a break from filming the series finale this week to reflect on it all at PaleyFest and tease what fans can expect.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Armitage teased of the finale, “It very much comes full-circle, and I think we are trying to do our best to satisfy both fans of our show and Big Bang, and it’s been so much fun to film.” His onscreen mom, Perry, added that longtime fans can expect to spot “fun little” nods and Easter eggs in the episode as well.

“I think what you could always expect from the show is obviously the levity, the humor, but also a lot of heart,” she teased. “So I think people will be really moved by the ending of this. It’s a big chapter closed.”
The Big Bang Theory spin-off has followed the early life of titular child prodigy Sheldon Cooper, played by Jim Parsons on Big Bang and Armitage on Young Sheldon, for seven seasons.
As for filming itself, Perry said it’s been “very bittersweet” for the cast. “It’s not an easy thing to know that something that’s been so wonderful for us is coming to an end,” the star admitted. “But I think I can speak for everyone that we’re all just really grateful that we’ve gotten to tell this story, tell it for as long as we have, get to experience the audience reactions and how wonderful they’ve been. I think we’re just so appreciative. Truly.”
That especially true for a cast that considers itself to be a real family, said Jordan, who plays Sheldon’s older brother, Georgie. “We’ve been a family ever since the first day we met — and we’re still a family,” he said. “Just because the show’s ending don’t mean we’re not going to continue being a family. That’s what kind of bond we got.”
Young Sheldon airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, and the finale is slated to air May 16.
