Yanga transfer ban won’t impact Orlando Pirates’ pursuit of striker
Orlando Pirates can still sign Stephane Aziz Ki from Young Africans at the end of the current term despite Fifa handing Young Africans a transfer ban.
Yanga have been handed the ban after former Kaizer Chiefs striker Lazarous Kambole took the club to Fifa over unpaid fees owed to him by the club.

Fifa have since placed Young Africans under a transfer embargo.
While the ban impacts Yanga’s ability to sign and register new players, it does not prevent players with expired contracts from leaving then club.
Aziz Ki’s current seal expires at the end of the season and he is eligible to sign a pre-contract with a new club.
Typically Fifa transfer bans prevent clubs from registering new players until the ban is lifted but players can still depart the club.
Given their situation, Young Africans would likely not be keen on a sale but with the player’s contract set to expire they cannot do much to prevent a deal.
“As things stand now, Pirates can still sign Aziz Ki at the end of the season,” a source informed Soccer Laduma.
“He will be a free agent and that would make him leave the club because he won’t be contracted to them
“Do you remember what happened to Tebogo Pontsane when he joined Kaizer Chiefs from Royal AM? He joined as a free agent because Royal AM were also facing a ban. So, there is a chance that Pirates can sign him and they are not giving up on him,” the source added.
A change of scenery
Reports suggest that the Burkina Faso international is eager for a change of scenery and might jump at a PSL move whether it be to Pirates or another club.
“The advantage to Pirates is that they are looking to offer him a pre-contract and if he knows that this is the chance to leave then he will also take it.
“Then that will give Pirates the chance to sign him even if his current team is on a FIFA transfer embargo,” another source told Soccer Laduma.
“So, yes Pirates can still sign him even though Yanga are banned at the moment.
“The transfer can still happen even if it were not Pirates interested in him,” the source added.
The player’s agent has indicated that they have held talks with PSL clubs.
Orlando Pirates are on the hunt for strikers. Getting goals has been a big problem for the Sea Robbers.
Tshegofatso Mabasa is in the golden boot hunt but the team have struggled to hit the back of the net in big games.
Pirates have been chasing some notable names on this front. However, they haven’t yet made any firm offers.
Cup success has come for the Sea Robbers but they are desperate to compete with Sundowns for PSL glory.
