After months of speculation we finally have our first proper look at Lindsay Lohan’s new Netflix rom-com, Irish Wish, and it’s every bit as wonderfully cringe as you’d expect.
The film which was shot in various locations around Wicklow, including Lough Tay and Killruddery House, as well as the Cliffs of Moher in Clare and Westport in Mayo, has sparked widespread anticipation ahead of its release.

In what feels like a Irishised mélange of My Best Friend’s Wedding and Freaky Friday, the film Irish Wish sees Maddie (Lohan), a book editor, travel to Ireland for, wait for it… her best friend’s wedding.
There’s just one hitch, Maddie is desperately in love with the groom so much so she that she makes a wish to marry him and finds herself walking up as the bride-to-be.
After getting over her initial shock, and the fact that was the one who got down on one knee to propose to him, Maddie is thrilled to be the one walking down the aisle but the thing with wishes is that they always come with a catch.

Maddie’s ‘catch’ comes in the form of a mysterious photographer James Thomas (Ed Speelers) who becomes involved in the wedding and just so happens to be there at crucial moments including one scene that sees her cannonball into her car at high speed in a wedding dress.
Sure enough they initially butt heads but their mounting chemistry is unavoidable. As they set out to take some idyllic rural Irish shots and Maddie and James grow closer and closer, as one scene shows them Irish dancing in a pub together.
As the synopsis for the film reads, Maddie soon ‘realises that her real soulmate is someone else entirely’… We wonder who that could be?
Irish Wish drops on Netflix on March 15.
