EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Back to winter reality! Don’t let that brief taste of spring fool you, Sunday will bring Pennsylvania a taste of snow.
Hard to believe it’s the end of January as temperatures climb from the 50s to near 60 on Friday! However, winter weather will soon return.
Interactive Radar
Saturday night, our next storm system will move in with rain developing. Rain will mix with or change (depending on elevation) to snow by Sunday morning and continue until Sunday night.
Temperatures are marginal with this system, as there isn’t a deep cold airmass in place for an all-snow event. With that said, elevation will play a big role in snowfall totals.
In the valleys and areas south a coating of an inch or two of snow is possible. The higher up in elevation, such as the Poconos and northern area of the state, the better your odds are for seeing a few inches of snow.
How much snow is expected on Sunday in Pennsylvania?
With temperatures hovering around the freezing mark, this will make for heavy, wet snow to shovel compared to dry, fluffy snow.
School Closings
Most of the precipitation will wrap up by Sunday night with more seasonable air to follow for next week.
