Sleet and snow showers are forecast for Ulster and north Leinster this afternoon as weather is set to remain unsettled for the Easter weekend, Met Éireann has said.
Thursday morning will begin cold and frosty for some and Connacht and Munster will be drier today. Other areas will see outbreaks of rain before clearing this evening.
“Cold and frosty for some this morning with outbreaks of rain spreading over Ulster and north Leinster, turning to sleet or snow in places before clearing this evening. Highest temperatures of between 5C and 10C are expected,” Met Éireann said.
It will be cold overnight with temperatures between -2C and 2C when there is a chance of hail and sleet in places.
A mix of sunny spells and showers are forecast for Friday with some hail and isolated thunderstorms possible and temperatures of between 8C and 11C. Friday night will be dry with clear spells and some isolated showers.
Frost is possible too as temperatures drop to between 0C and 4C.
While Saturday will start out dry with sunny spells, blustery showers will spread across the country in the morning and afternoon. Some will be heavy with hail and temperatures will be between 9C and 12C.
Overnight it will be dry but longer spells of rain will develop and lowest temperatures of between 3C and 7C are expected.
Easter Sunday will be cloudy with showers turning heavy in places. It will also be a mild day as temperatures are set to be between 10C and 13C.
Current indications suggest a dull day for Monday with outbreaks of rain continuing and daytime temperatures between 9C and 14C and the unsettled weather will remain into next week.
