‘We cannot stay silent’: Students block Paris’ Sciences Po over Israel-Hamas war

Tense scenes here in front of Seance PO as a confrontation arose between pro Israeli and pro Palestinian protesters, with police keeping the two groups away from each other. Friday saw the third day of demonstrations here at the prestigious university in Paris where pro Palestinian students have been blocking access to the building and urging the institution to condemn Israeli actions in Gaza. And we have hundreds of people coming, new faces that we’ve never seen before and and people really mobilize and the professors as well. So I think it’s our responsibility as academics, as students to act when international law is not respected, specifically in Palestine when a genocide is happening, we as students in international relation and political sciences. We cannot stay silent. The students received a message of support from the France and bowed party leader Jean Lucan, and were joined by elected officials from his. A Franco Palestinian activist and candidates for the European Parliament elections. To offer them their spaces for democratic debate and not to send in the CRS riot police to silence them. The Council of Jewish Institutions in France, meanwhile, has condemned what they call a dangerous movement. The university S interim director condemned the blockade. Later Friday, the administration said that it had reached an agreement with the demonstrators after committing to holding a discussion about students demands next week.
